Nevada County Fair

Each year the Nevada County Resource Conservation District (NCRCD) offers conservation outreach to the public at the Nevada County Fair.  The NCRCD strives to continue building partnerships and bonds with local landowners by educating and raising awareness of important local issues.  Fair attendees learn about forest health, local native plants, pollination, invasive species, wildlife, composting, irrigation, and more.

The 2018 Fair's theme is "Bushels of Fun!".  We are partnering with the Nevada County Farm Bureau in the Ag-Sperience area behind Treat Street.  We'll have information available on four of our programs:  the Advisory Visit Program, the Min-Till Drill, the Manure Exchange Program, and Farm Day.  Staff from the NCRCD, as well as our partner agency - the Natural Resources Conservation Service, will be on hand to answer many of your questions.

Previous years have seen local experts in their fields on a variety of topics pertinent to Nevada County landowners and urban homeowners.  Past speakers have represented the Nevada County Beekeepers Association, UCCE Master Gardeners of Nevada County, Bierwagen’s Donner Trail Fruit, and the Nevada County Farm Advisor.  We've had an oak tree expert, a Northern California bat expert, composting experts, and wildlife specialists offering numerous educational tools including literature, photos, plant materials, live bats, live raptors, and a wealth of information.

Our volunteers help make this our best event for communicating to the public our goal of conservation of natural resources for Nevada County.  We are proud to be a part of the Nevada County Fair each year and hope to see you there!
